The official reason is " Because policy of Tak Governor,he wants the people to have income" - which seems to back up my beliefthat this is a cartel or monopoly by local businesses.
Apparently the governor seems to have overlooked the factthat many people who would normally stay there now won’t come atall....dep ...
Arriving too late at night to take BTS into city. ATM withdrawal at airport would be too large demoniations for metered cab drivers to make change. I do not respect Uber as a company or an employer, but is it a good alternative for a flat fee paid by credit card? An online search suggests that Uber was banned from the airport earlier this year. Accurate? Information on where to meet driver or other tips? It's my first visit to Thailand so hope to reduce stressful unknowns after 24 hours of ...
I need help...as I'm very confused! After a few forum questions we decided that Dec25th we are going to fly to Krabi , straight to Ko Lanta until the morning of Jan 2nd (7 full days) then up to Railey until the evening 4th where we will return to Bangkok either that evening or the next morning.
We like nature, snorkeling, mopeds, hikes and like some night life but we don't want to be mega busy party zones with no escape. Also, we need to consider where we will be for NYE.
I'm looking for recommendations for "old skool" type Island - bamboo huts on the beach, decent beaches, pretty chilled etc I've been to Thailand quite a few times over the years, but not so much recently, and places change..
Last time I was there (4 years ago) I really liked *Little* Ko Chang, though it was maybe a bit too quiet and beaches weren't great. I wasn't overly keen on its neighbour Ko Phayam, which had a lot of building work going on, so it maybe even more developed now. I ...

Hey everyone, I'm looking forward to a 2 week speed trip through Flores, Indonesia traveling from Labuan Bajo to Maumere in 13 days... My main question is about the bus system as we're running a bit of a budget.
Do the buses between the major cities run with any consistency going west to east or is it only a select few that run a few random times a day? I'm slightly worried about getting from Denge (post Wae Rebo) onto Ruteng for example, as it looks as if it's off the trans-Flores high ...
We are a couple planning to spend one wwek by mid november in the andaman sea after having spend one week in the Chiang Mai Region.
As my stay begins late in the day in Krabi airport, I thought spending a first night in krabi town and then spend 3 nights in Railay west, afterwhich We want to discover a beautiful island with stunning water/beach, nearby good snorkeling, offering a minimum night life (hesitating between Ko Kradan, Ko Jum, Ko Ngai...).
Your suggestions would be very hel ...
My wife and I are flying into DMK from Trang at 7:15 pm on Tuesday night in December and then we have to catch a flight from BKK to Manila at 10:50 pm. At first I figured this was enough time but I am a little skeptical now. We will be ferrying from Koh Lipe the same day to Hat Yao Pier and taking a taxi to Trang airport before flying to Bangkok. Is this enough time to get from DMK to BKK or are we cutting it too close?
I found another option that would take us on a ferry from Koh Lipe to Pa ...
So, me and a few friends are flying in to Bangkok in November. We are staying in Thailand for 2 weeks. We dont really have a plan, we want to have an amazing experience with elephants (true sanctuaries, not ride elephants), maybe get tattoos, beaches, bungee jump, eat, etc. We would like to stay away from big resorts and are willing to fly, boat, motor bike anywhere. really open to whatever. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks! ...
We are planning our first trip to Thailand for December/January. Our two children will be 8 and 3.5 at the time, and we will be traveling from the western US. We are planning on spending our first three days in Bangkok and our last 5-7 days in the Andaman region. For the middle portion, we are torn between Chiang Mai and Khao Sok National Park. They look equally lovely to my husband and myself, but the deciding factor needs to be which place our kids will enjoy the most. Ease of travel to/in t ...
I'm hoping to find anyone who has stayed at Koh Lipe Homestay? It looks really nice on the Agoda photos and there is a positive review on this website, but it doesn't appear to be on Tripadvisor yet which I normally use to get "real" photos of a place.
It would be a no-cancellation booking, so I just wanted to get personally views on the place before going forward...
Thank you! ...

My boyfriend and I have 2 weeks booked in Phuket as our company are opening an office there in the future so we are going to have a look at where we would like to live and whether we can make the move.
We like the look of Kata and Karon Beach so plan to have a few days so we can see what it would be like.
I haven't been there since I was 12 so can anyone suggest where would be good places to go and how long to stay in each place as we don't want to book accommodation for 2 nights ...
I am traveling to Thailand with my boyfriend for two weeks, and we would like to do the two week sampler itinerary (Mountains and Islands) that is proposed in this website. Could anyone help me with the day by day planning? I just want to know how many nights per place it's ok. We would fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai . Thank you!
1) Bangkok -> Chiang Mai
2) Chiang Mai -> Pai
3) Pai -> Mae Hong Son

Hi, can anyone please advise those tour agencies which has the 4 island and hong island tours combined and how much cost for that? Actually I want to take the full day tour for both hong and 4 Islands(Poda, Chicken, Tup & Phra nang)tour as compared to taking both tours on separate days. We are couple and budget traveller. So I can not afford 15000 baht spending for 2 person(private boat). We have no problem to share and we want this trip by long tail boat. So please help me with tour operato ...
I would like to stay in town for 2 nights and wondering if it's better to stay near the big wat or the railway station. Would like to be within walking distance of restaurants, shopping centre and street food.
I would also like to do a tour to Khao Luang Np and wondering if they run day tours from the city or whether it is better to self drive.
Budget for room is 1000 to 1500 baht
So far I have looked at the Heritage tropical resort as an option. ...
