Thi Lo Su Waterfall - restricted access.
Posted by khunwilco on 11/10/2017 at 01:12Thi Lo Su waterfalls - Umphang Please be aware there is NO PRIVATE VEHICLE ACCESS TO THECAMPSITE ANYMORE even 4x4s - you have to pay between 2000 and 2500 baht pervehicle The official reason is " Because policy of Tak Governor,he wants the people to have income" - which seems to back up my beliefthat this is a cartel or monopoly by local businesses. Apparently the governor seems to have overlooked the factthat many people who would normally stay there now won’t come atall....dep ...

Uber late-night from BKK airport?
Posted by CKDexterHaven on 27/8/2017 at 09:50Arriving too late at night to take BTS into city. ATM withdrawal at airport would be too large demoniations for metered cab drivers to make change. I do not respect Uber as a company or an employer, but is it a good alternative for a flat fee paid by credit card? An online search suggests that Uber was banned from the airport earlier this year. Accurate? Information on where to meet driver or other tips? It's my first visit to Thailand so hope to reduce stressful unknowns after 24 hours of ...

We like nature, snorkeling, mopeds, hikes and like some night life but we don't want to be mega busy party zones with no escape. Also, we need to consider where we will be for NYE. ...

I'm looking for recommendations for "old skool" type Island - bamboo huts on the beach, decent beaches, pretty chilled etc I've been to Thailand quite a few times over the years, but not so much recently, and places change.. Last time I was there (4 years ago) I really liked *Little* Ko Chang, though it was maybe a bit too quiet and beaches weren't great. I wasn't overly keen on its neighbour Ko Phayam, which had a lot of building work going on, so it maybe even more developed now. I ...

Two weeks in Flores, Indonesia
Posted by collierconnell on 28/9/2017 at 21:35Hey everyone, I'm looking forward to a 2 week speed trip through Flores, Indonesia traveling from Labuan Bajo to Maumere in 13 days... My main question is about the bus system as we're running a bit of a budget. Do the buses between the major cities run with any consistency going west to east or is it only a select few that run a few random times a day? I'm slightly worried about getting from Denge (post Wae Rebo) onto Ruteng for example, as it looks as if it's off the trans-Flores high ...

My wife and I are flying into DMK from Trang at 7:15 pm on Tuesday night in December and then we have to catch a flight from BKK to Manila at 10:50 pm. At first I figured this was enough time but I am a little skeptical now. We will be ferrying from Koh Lipe the same day to Hat Yao Pier and taking a taxi to Trang airport before flying to Bangkok. Is this enough time to get from DMK to BKK or are we cutting it too close? I found another option that would take us on a ferry from Koh Lipe to Pa ...

Two-week trip with kids: Chiang Mai or Khao Sok National Park?
Posted by Unoriginal on 15/6/2017 at 23:25We are planning our first trip to Thailand for December/January. Our two children will be 8 and 3.5 at the time, and we will be traveling from the western US. We are planning on spending our first three days in Bangkok and our last 5-7 days in the Andaman region. For the middle portion, we are torn between Chiang Mai and Khao Sok National Park. They look equally lovely to my husband and myself, but the deciding factor needs to be which place our kids will enjoy the most. Ease of travel to/in t ...

Koh Lipe - Koh Lipe Homestay, has anyone stayed?
Posted by paperboats87 on 10/8/2017 at 05:26Hello! I'm hoping to find anyone who has stayed at Koh Lipe Homestay? It looks really nice on the Agoda photos and there is a positive review on this website, but it doesn't appear to be on Tripadvisor yet which I normally use to get "real" photos of a place. It would be a no-cancellation booking, so I just wanted to get personally views on the place before going forward... Thank you! ...
