Price Guarantee of AGODA works?
Posted by motohachi on 5/12/2019 at 10:32Have any of you ever successfully used Best Price Guarantee form of Agoda.com? After I entered everything accurately and attached jpg files (very small), and press Submit. Nothing. No error message or anything. So I send an email with attachments. But the response I'm getting looks more like 'avoidance' rather than customer service. As Agoda seems to be using travelfish site to advertise, I wonder any of you have any positive experience. ...

I will be traveling around Nan and will have 3 or 4 days to stop in Phayao and/or Phrae, two provinces I've never been to. I could split my time between the two, or just spend the entire time in one. Is either one of those places worth the longer stay, or would 2 nights in each be sufficient? ...

Your favorite area close to but not in Phuket
Posted by LTnHH on 24/5/2019 at 15:45Hello We are planning our Singapore-Thailand trip (Dec 2019-Jan 2020) and will be ending it by four days in the Phuket area--chosen because air connections back for US return are plentiful. I am trying to find feedback on beach areas close to Phuket airport but not Phuket-it does not at all sound like our kind of place. We are in our 50's, not budget travelers but not overly extravagent; love a good beach, good food, and a few tourist options (maybe Elephant sanctuary? Or Tiger prese ...

Pattaya to Hua Hin Ferry - anyone used it?
Posted by exacto on 24/7/2019 at 18:16I recognize that most Travelfish members don't frequent either Pattaya or Hua Hin, but it seems like the new ferry service linking the two places would be a scenic and time-saving way to get from Ko Samet to Prachuap Khiri Khan, for example, without having to slug through Bangkok. Has anyone used this relatively new service? What did you think? Cheers. ...

This situation may not apply to many readers/subscribers here, but is currently proving a real headache and timewaster for me. My main activity is cycle touring. For my last trip I brought my bike from Australia, never a problem duty-wise crossing borders. This time I ordered a new high-end bike from the Netherlands to be sent to my Bangkok hotel, with me arriving from Tasmania to meet it. Two weeks on it is stuck in Customs with them demanding over 70000 Baht import duty. The bike is my r ...

Custom Clothing - Chiang Mai if possible
Posted by LTnHH on 14/10/2019 at 18:58Hello We will be visiting Thailand (arriving first in Singapore) end of December 2019. I am interested in custom clothing-perhaps a pants/jacket for me (female) and suit for my husband but we are larger than Asian sizes so I want to look into custom options before we leave US. We will be in Chiang Mai Dec 31 for 4 days - I am not sure yet if New Years is a holiday there- and then Bangkok for three days. I would love to be able to head for somewhere at beginning of either city's visit so as ...

Any suggestions, please...? For now, the only absolute secure place I've found is Ko Muk, and some parts of Lanta and Bulon Le. I visit Thailand in February, mainly to enjoy in swimming, and few times I had awful experiences (Samui, Phangan, Jum) I know not all the people are sensitive to sea lice bites, also that streams which carry these invisible little monsters change, but still hope to here some recommendations from sensitive swimmers... Looking forward to... ...

I will be going to Nan, and instead of doing the full Bo Kleua "loop" by motorbike, i was thinking of using Pua as my base, staying 3 nights, and going to Bo Kleua only for the day and back to Pua at night. Is this feasible, or would it be better to spend at least one night in Bo Kleua, and continue on to Nan city for the full loop? ...

Hi, I read you can only travel overland to Thailand twice a calendar year (more often by plane). Is this is correct? And are authorities strict on this? We'll be cycling through SE Asia for 4 months and will cross the Thai Border overland for at least 3, maybe 4 times ...

Avoid Moonhut Bungalows on Koh Samui
Posted by HarleyRiley on 1/7/2019 at 07:44Recommending that people avoid moonhut bungalows on Koh Samui. Based on travelfish reviews I booked the AC bungalow. Arrived to find out the AC doesn’t work. Staff aren’t really helpful to resolve the issue; three hours later all they offered me is a bungalow with a door that doesn’t lock. So unless you want to sweat to death or get raped and murdered in your sleep, I would pass on moonhut. ...

Ferry from Chumphon to Koh Phangan.
Posted by CathJones on 27/5/2019 at 13:35Hello, We want to get the ferry from Chumphon to Koh Phangan to arrive on the 26th July. I think the best option for us is the early morning ferry, but we are also considering a night crossing. Anyone have any advice or recommendations please ? How far in advance should we book our tickets ? Is it cheaper to book with a tour agent in Thailand rather than on line? If we go for the early morning crossing, is there a guest house close by that anyone could recommend please? Thank you , Cath ...

Staying in Hostel Dorms - how much is age a factor?
Posted by exacto on 13/4/2019 at 04:01The recent post for Ban Rim Nam Hostel near the Phun Phin train station got me thinking about staying in dorm-style hostel accommodation again. I did this a great deal when I was younger, particularly in places like Australia and the United States, but not so much in Thailand, as it wasn't as common an option back then. When I was in my 30's and 40's, I sometimes (but not always) felt made unwelcome by the 20-somethings staying in the dorm rooms, which made me self conscious about it. Now that ...
