Andaman Sea vs the Gulf

Would like to know if we can only choose one: the west (Andaman Sea) or the east side (the Gulf of Thailand), which one offers the best in terms of:
1. White sandy beaches
2. Snorkeling (corals scene) (we can't dive, so diving is not our concern)
3. General scenery

chopin,
i don't think you can go wrong either way, as both sides offer plenty of options which will have all those things you listed. if dluek sees this post, he would likely be the one to offer the most accurate, most recent, and most insightful information.
my questions for you would be:
1. what time of year are you going, because the rain falls during different times of the year on either side, and when you travel may wind up making the choice for you.
2. are you looking for a more developed and party atmosphere, or for more of a laid back and isolated beach holiday. it isn't universally true of course, as both sides have both options in this sense too, but in my experience, the gulf side tends to be a bit more developed with a party atmosphere, while the andaman side tends to be less developed and more laid back. cheers.

Both are amazing but I'd personally go for the Andaman. Can't wait to travel to Phuket ! Booked my super cheap ferry tickets via PhuketFerry to Phuket. Phuket is gradually opening up its tourism so prices are really low. Very much looking forward to traveling again!

Hi exacto: Thanks for your advice. I am not planning to go yet, just getting some info now. Not too young anymore, so parties are not high in my list. Natural beauty and friendly people are what I'm after.
Hi wanderer143: Do let us know Phuket's situation when you get there!
