Thailand itinerary advice

Posted by mtnmichelle on 2/8/2018 at 14:08

Hello all, My husband and I are arriving in Thailand in October and plan to spend 10 days in Bangkok and then move towards Isaan and then eventually down towards Trat and Koh Kut. My question for everyone here is does it make sense to visit Isaan and then cut through Cambodia to see Angkor Wat and then re-enter Thailand near Trat? We will be in the region for 6 months and will be visiting Cambodia later in our travels but geographically it seems we will be close to Angkor Wat and it may ...

Help with itinerary! I've lost my way!

Posted by Meander on 2/8/2018 at 02:17

I'm travelling to Thailand next February (4 adults, 2 children aged 7 & 11) My husband and I travelled through Thailand this year.. North, South & and inbetween & saw some amazing things. As we will have 2 children with us this time we want to avoid lots of connecting flights & long road journeys. My plan is to fly to BKK-SUVARNABHUMI, 1 night there, fly to chumphon & spend 5 nights on Ko Tao, on to Koh Phangan (quieter part of the island!) onto Koh Samui & then 3 nigh ...

Kok river trip to Chiang Rai

Posted by ambersaffron on 30/7/2018 at 05:11

is anyone interested in taking the public boat from Tha Ton to Chiang Rai with us on Aug 2 or Aug 3? They need at least 4 people to run the boat and as it’s low season there’s hardly ever enough people. It looks like a beautiful trip! Please let me know if you’re interested in doing this with us. Thanks!! ...

Risk of being denied entry with 60 day visa and intent to extend visa? Flight home later than 6odays

Posted by Draspe on 12/7/2018 at 11:46

Family of four, kids 2 and 5 years old. Swedish citizens. We are going to Thailand this winter and would like to stay for about 80-90 days. We are confused regarding the visa rules. We do understand that it is possible to extend the 60 days tourist visa with 30 days from within Thailand witch would suit us perfect. But reading on the webpage of the thai embassy of Sweden it seems like they can deny us from entering Thailand - if we are trying to enter Thailand without a flight ticket out of Thai ...

A day in Phuket... looking for a place to secure baggage while moseying around

Posted by mtbakerstu on 29/6/2018 at 14:39

I have my flight booked to Thailand! And as I'm sure many have experienced, the flights back to the states depart at odd hours. I have a flight that departs at 1 am. This leaves me with a full day in Phuket before moseying over to the airport in the late hours to catch this flight. Does anyone have input regarding where I might stow my baggage while I explore a day in Phuket? I won't be staying at a hotel where I might ask them to hold onto my baggage while I explore. Enthused for any ...

Island research December..

Posted by mtbakerstu on 16/6/2018 at 19:38

Researching islands as the second stage of a two and a half week trip to Thailand in December. Honestly, I'm finding it a bit daunting trying to find the right island combination that would provide some degree of beachside serenity, combined with easy walking reach to a social atmosphere. It seems June might be a little late in the game to make accommodation reservations as some of the middle range places recommended on the Travelfish site here appear booked in the areas I've researched. I wa ...

Looking for village recommendations

Posted by mtbakerstu on 10/6/2018 at 12:14

Hello, I'm planning my first trip to Thailand in December, and am giving myself a couple of weeks. My plan is to spend a small amount of time in Bangkok, and from there travel to Chiang Mai. I would also like to spend some time in some small Buddhist village that is more esoteric, off the more mainstream path. After my time in the north, I will spend some time on the islands before heading home. Would love to get some suggestions! Thanks in advance for any feedback. Mtbakerstu ...

Beach Recommendations on Phuklet

Posted by jahoran on 21/5/2018 at 08:34

Good morning all, My wife and I are visiting Myanmar in September (not an ideal time we know but the only weeks we could get holidays ). It seems like Ngapali will be closed down for the Monsoon season so we are flying home via Phuket to take a few nights to relax. What I was hoping to get was a recommendation for a nice beach or a nice hotel for 3 nights. We would like somewhere relaxing and luxurious but don't want to feel 'trapped' at the hotel and would like to be able to walk to other ...

Getting Thai tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur

Posted by ambersaffron on 12/5/2018 at 01:23

Hi, I’m going to try to get a Thai tourist visa in KL. I’ve read that you need to provide a copy of onward flight out of Thailand. I do have a flight booked but it’s not until November as I’m going to be traveling overland into Cambodia and Vietnam first. Will this be a problem for the visa? Thanks for any input. ...

North Thailand for a few days, ease of travel?

Posted by Dreamer33 on 25/4/2018 at 16:38

Hi there my friend and I have a few days in North Thailand, we are staying 2 days in Chiang Mai and thinking about staying at the nest in Chiang Dao for 2 nights and exploring a bit from there before we go back to CM to head to Laos. Alternatively we'll stay at CD for just 1 night and stay another night or 2 further on. My question is - is it easy enough to travel around from Chiang Dao up to Tha Ton, Mae Salong and maybe Chiang Saen on a day trip or maybe 1 night before heading bac ...

Beach areas late Feb/March

Posted by Michael29 on 18/2/2018 at 01:14

Hi, Am looking for a week’s beach getaway from Northern Thailand over the next couple of weeks. Have been checking out Thai Mueang Beach area. Trying to avoid the hordes of tourists and looking for ‘clean beach areas,’ bungalow or such for under 1000-1500 Baht per night and good local foods - hopefully seafood to enjoy. Plus also gotta consider areas that’ll be reasonably dry. Look forward to replies. Cheers, Michael ...

Koh Phangan - Which beach?

Posted by ladelstal on 2/4/2018 at 05:12

Hi! Would like to get your view on the beaches on Koh Phangan. We are a family with 2 teenagers (14 & 16). We don't want to go to a resort beach yet neither to an isolated beach with few options to eat and socialize. We are used to traveling. We are looking for a beach with a nice laidback vibe, where you can walk on the beach and find alternatives for eating with feet in the sand; sit in the shade and take a drink or read a book. Although we have teenagers we are not looking for a party pla ...

Advise for a family traveling June-July

Posted by yearn2travel on 22/3/2018 at 06:23

Our family plans to travel mid June to mid July to SEA. We have always made our own set itinerary but with it being the rainy season we thought crowds would be lower and traveling without a set plan could provide more flexibility to change depending on the weather. Would anyone advise going to Khao San Road to pick an island to visit in late June? Are there plenty of travel agents in that area that could steer us to a quite beach that has a local vibe? Is booking with a travel agent in there ...
