Getting around

Travelling to Batu Karas means first getting yourself to Pangandaran, unless you opt to fly from Jakarta, as the airstrip is closest to Batu Karas. There is no public transport to or from Batu Karas, and the nearest terminal is Cijulang, ten kilometres from the beach and a 10,000 rupiah, one-hour bus ride from Pangandaran. Please see our Pangandaran travel section for detailed coverage of inbound and outbound travel options from there.

An ojek from Cijulang to Batu Karas is 30,000 to 50,000 rupiah, depending on your bargaining skills. If you have a lot of luggage or you travelling in a group, you can charter a minibus for 150,000 to 200,000 rupiah, a bit steep considering the short distance.

If you are travelling light, an ojek directly from Pangandaran is 100,000, or a taxi is 200,000 to 300,000. Accommodations can organise private transport from major cities in Java.
