my 3 month trip/motorbike advice vietnam, laos cambodia

Posted by petethered on 17/3/2014 at 11:53

so i figured i should throw up a little report about the trip i recently completed. it can be hard to find info sometimes for some of the more remote areas. obviously this isn't a comprehensive guide, so don't read it as such. me and a friend each bought a honda win in hanoi. i paid $275 and she paid $250 and we both sold them for about $200 each. honestly if you are buying a bike from a tourist i wouldn't pay more than $250, and honestly you should probably try and get it for closer to $200 whi ...

Here is the route I'm looking at I read somewhere that if I enter Thailand by bike I need to leave with the bike as well? If not then I would get a $2000 fine. Scooter rental Thailand

Posted by Buffy_Wedlin on 19/9/2012 at 20:07

Hi there, I'm planning a month-long trip to Thailand with my boyfriend and we really love the idea of doing at least some of the tour on scooters. I've been trying to find some more information on the whole process. I know about not leaving your passport at the rental place, the crazy traffic, etc. What I'm wondering is: are there rules about where one can take a rental bike, i.e. can you take it out of the city from where you rented it? Thanks for the help! ...

Motorbiking in Asia- WARNING

Posted by mifox2 on 5/1/2010 at 13:19

Just a warning to fellow travelers of the potential consequences of renting a motorbike. We rented motorbikes on Ko Phangan, Thailand. We got them on Haad Salad Beach. The first day, everything went fine. The second day, we put a few very small scratches on one of the bikes. When we returned, the guy was a complete jerk and yelled and screamed at us and told us that we would have to pay 20,000 Baht ($USD600). After arguing, calling the police, and the embassy, there was nothing that we could do ...

Buying motorbike in Indonesia?

Posted by CoolOperator on 19/7/2014 at 04:58

Hey everybody. I have my flight tickets booked to Medan and I will fly out from Bali. I would love to do this trip with a motorbike or scooter. I've done some reading about it and people tell me that it's impossible to buy a bike in Indonesia? Can anyone confirm this, or do anyone know a way around it? It would be very cool to buy a bike in Medan and then sell it later in Bali. I've heard that bringing a bike out of Sumatra with Sumatran number plates will be a problem. Is that true? Many th ...
